![]() I was trying to show his psychology and what drove him. A lot of his humor came out of other people's discomfort. Because a lot of people don't realize that when you write down some of the things that Keith used to do on the page, that we all used to laugh at back in the day, it feels awful - it could be a really nasty piece of work. ![]() John Law is a NY times theater critic, and he wrote a film called Prick Up Your Ears, and so it's a very mindful film. So I had to wait all this time so I could buy back the original script that i had written, in partnership with a company called Icon that is Mel Gibson's company, they didn't like the script and i thought 60% of it was correct, and it was written by a guy named John Law, and this script was the first draft. It would be absolutely criminal to make a film about Keith that was ever run of the mill and boring. The film I wanted to make and everybody said "Oh I can see the potential" but I don't know if they realized that film isn't real life, a film script has to speak in its own language, and generally, biopics are generally run of the mill and boring. I was very close to having the script I wanted. And I was very close to gettin' the film that I wanted made, way back in, wait, 15 years now. Well, the project is a project i've been working on now for 25 years. They deserve this to be achieved in your country. They're from your communities, these teen-agers, and you owe them to get this done. And thank you for supporting me over the years of my career, and any support you can give us for Teen Cancer America, would be gratefully received. Some of them were quite challenging and interesting.
